When young Kelly Woodward was killed by a drunk driver her family were devastated – but now they
have launched a campaign to change the law to make sure he serves his full sentence.

Jan, Kelly’s mother, is angry that the drunk who killed her, could walk out of prison and back
into the driver’s seat of a car within just a few months.

Jan has already succeeded in fighting for the 30 month prison sentence imposed on driver, to be
increased to four and a half years and his driving ban extended to five years.

But she has now learned that the driving ban will be served concurrently with the prison sentence
meaning that he will be eligible to drive within six months of his release.

“That can’t possible be right and fair. Why on earth ban him from driving during a time when he
won’t be able to do so anyway? It’s nonsense and you could have knocked me over with a feather
when I found out,” said Jan. “So we are going to campaign for a change in the law to make sure
that his five year driving ban starts on the day he walks free – and not a day earlier. We are
determined to get FULL JUSTICE for Kelly. The law has got to be changed”

Jan says the campaign isn’t just about Kelly who was just 19 when she died: “It’s about every
drunk who kills or maims people and can serve their driving ban whilst in prison. It is not
justice. I hope other parents, brothers, sisters and friends of other victims will join our
campaign and make sure we keep these people off the road as long as possible,” she said.

A petition will be launched within the next few days followed by another on-line within the next few
weeks. A special web site will also be set up to make the campaign truly national. A letter
writing campaign and a series of other activities will also be underway soon.

The website is set up and the online petition is linked on there to the 10 Downing Street petition
site ....... please help us by signing the petition and giving the link to everyone u know online.
Thank you.

a poem for a very much missed friend!

They say that there's a reason why you got took from us,
They say that time will heal the pain were going through,
But neither time nor reason
Will ever change the way we feel
For no-one knows the pain that lies beneath our smiles
Or how many tears we've cried when no-ones been around to watch
But one thing we do know is that neither time nor reason will ever change the fact that we love you and will always miss you!!!

Love you loads smell
Thinking of you everyday
Soon justice will be done for wat he done to you
Miss you always

Love
Toni

A letter from heaven

Letter from Heaven
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say.
But first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here there's no more tears of sadness; Here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through.
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you.

It's good to have you back again,
you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, They'll be here later on.
I need you here badly, you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years.
Because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry: it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
If I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
But together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too;
That as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain;
Then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life was worthwhile.
Knowing as I passed along the way I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low;
Just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street
and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go....from that body to be free.
Remember you're not going.....
you're coming here to me.

My deepest condolences Jan

Jan.....there is nothing no one can say that'll make what you are going through any easier. Losing someone as close to you as your daughter is as bad as it can possibly be. I've only recently come to know you and believe me "My heart goes out to you". You have all my prayers to help you get through this hardship. I'm truely sorry Jan.
